Facebook Container
Facebook Container is an extension for Firefox that prevents Facebook from tracking you around the web. Facebook places trackers in their login, share and even like buttons (and that's just to name a few!). Even if you don't click these buttons they are still tracking and building a profile about you.
Facebook container disables these trackers by putting Facebook into a boundary.
I was brought into this project to help visualize how and when Facebook Container protects users. Working with research and content strategy we conducted a week-long sprint to understand our user problems. This allowed me to iterate and validate my designs quickly using prototypes.

We tracked our sprint using a Miro board
Using a badging system we show users when and where Facebook Container has blocked a Facebook a tracker. This was very eye-opening to many users - to see the tracker in context made it much more real. We opted to disable share and like buttons, but prompted a warning when a user tried to log in with Facebook. We use this moment to provide the user with more information and education so they can make an informed decision.

We created an onboarding flow to help users understand how Facebook Container works and highlighted the visual cues that show it's protecting them.

The extension also has a panel that is found on the chrome of Firefox. In this panel, we alert the user to when a tracker is found on a website. We also use the panel as an informational space. For example, when a site is added to Facebook Container we want to make it clear to users that Facebook can now track you on the site.
